As you all know WhatsApp wants to keep its users always happy with application usage and always put efforts to provide useful features with its visionary development team. WhatsApp is widely used not only for chatting but also for sending messages, video calling ,voice calling ,sharing other multimedia files like video, image, pdf files etc.

WhatsApp has released its new update which includes a "Poll" feature. This feature is very very useful in the scenarios where we want to understand the opinion of others in WhatsApp group or a single person, about some topic. Instead of asking for opinion or preference to each individual on WhatsApp separately, and then collating the information to conclude about the asked question or topic, WhatsApp poll feature can be used.  

Let's understand how to use WhatsApp poll feature with an example. Let's imagine you are planning a trip for your office colleagues. You have 4 locations in mind and want to know the preference of each person in the group. In this case you can ask a question and give 4 locations as options . Everyone in WhatsApp group would select one option from the given 4 location options and give there preference. As and when someone in group selects one option the vote counter for that option increases. 

You have to click on "view votes" button at the bottom of the poll to see the voting/poll details. These details include count of votes/people for each individual location/option given in poll. Also you'll be able to see list of people who voted for a particular location/option.

This way you can use WhatsApp poll functionality whenever you want to understand the opinion or preference of others regarding the question in your mind. Please be aware that this poll functionality can be used in the group as well as with one individual chat.

Let's see how we can use poll feature step by step.

1. Open the WhatsApp messenger (group/individual chat).
2. At the bottom click on 'Paper clip' icon. This shows multiple other features. You need to select "POLL" option.
3. On first text box ,we see 'ask question' is written. Here we have to enter our question which we want to ask to people.
4. Below this question, we have to provide list of options that others need to select from. You can enter maximum 17 options in this list.
5. Once the question and answer options are entered, press this 'send' button at the bottom right of the screen.
6. Now you have to monitor the poll. As and when people select one of the provided options , vote counter would keep updating.
7. Later when you want to analyze the vote count Click on "View Votes" button at the bottom of the Poll. This will show you, how many people votes for each provided option. And will give you list of people who voted for each option.

Now with the available information from the poll, you can easily decide what the majority of people prefer and you can come to a conclusion.
